Greetings to all participants attending BEIMUN,

Welcome to the 32nd annual Beijing Model United Nations Conference. My name is George Xu, and I am honored to serve as your co-Director-General in the upcoming year. Along with my friend Josh, I will be your Head of Conference. As a senior at the International School of Beijing, this is my seventh year participating in the MUN program.

I joined the MS MUN Club in sixth grade, initially looking to expand my horizons from the natural sciences to the political sciences and improve my public speaking skills. I got all of that and more. I realized, through some introspection, that I would not be the person I am now without my experiences at MUN. The lenses through which I saw this world, its history, and its future all came from over twenty conferences worth of research, discussion, and debate. What I recognized as most significant, however, was the understanding that all aspiring delegates will one day inherit the knowledge and power of your predecessors and forge your own path to the future, to humanity’s future. May you learn from the mistakes we witness now of the past and present and never repeat them, the consequences of which have been and will be remembered and judged by history.

Whether you are a first-time debater or a seasoned veteran of many years, this conference, I hope, will still bring you the same joy and surprises as it did years ago, no matter how much life has changed. I look forward to meeting all of you on the 32nd anniversary of BEIMUN and in future conferences, whenever that may be.

Josh Ding

To all those attending BEIMUN XXXII,

My name is Joshua Ding, and I am truly honored to serve as your co-Director General for the thirty-second iteration of BEIMUN this year. I am a senior at the International School of Beijing, and I am privileged to be on the BEIMUN exec team for my fifth year in the MUN program. MUN has not only helped me improve my public speaking skills, but it has also shaped my worldview and mindset of being a global citizen.

Walking in as a shy and clueless eighth grader, I had no idea what kind of joy and fulfillment MUN would bring me shortly. Initially, I joined MUN to increase my confidence in public speaking, which was at an all-time low back then. Walking into the room every Thursday for mock debates was a pain as I dreaded being cold-called to speak in front of unfamiliar faces. Little did I know that this was all part of the process. I soon realized that MUN existed as a space for like-minded individuals to help one another reach their full potential and not a place to be judged for imperfections. Stepping into the shoes of the previous execs who had once helped me on my MUN journey is something I fail to put into words. I am passionate and fully committed to creating an experience that is no less fulfilling than the previous execs did for me.

Beyond the benefits that MUN brings to the individual, it is a way for us to approach issues that the world has yet to solve in the present. We aspire to think ahead for the future in which we take on the role of leaders who can truly make a change. When that happens, we can be the first to take the initiative. Experienced? Inexperienced? First-timer? It doesn’t matter. What matters is that you learn something new, meet new people, share some good laughs, and maybe even discover your hidden talent. Endless possibilities await.

I look forward to meeting you all at the conference.

Greetings to all participants attending BEIMUN! My name is Nan Jiang, and I am delighted to be serving as your co-Secretary General for the thirty-second Beijing Model United Nations conference and BEIMUN Online. I am a junior attending the International School of Beijing; this will be my sixth year in the MUN program.

Back in 7th grade, it took plenty of self-assurance and self-convincing to join the MUN club, for I was such a terrible public speaker. Little did I know that MUN would become one of my greatest passions and will forever change the way I view the world. Having been a part of the MUN program for so many years and have participated in a range of conferences, I am proud to say that MUN is not only one of my greatest passions, but a significant part of my life. MUN helped me become more aware and involved with the world around me. Most importantly, MUN made me realize that as members of the young generation, we have the power to make a difference in our world.

Through MUN, we share perspectives, practice critical thinking, and raise awareness in our changing world. I look forwards to the collaboration, collision of ideas, and thoughtful debates that will be taking place at BEIMUN. Lastly, I hope all participants of BEIMUN will have a memorable experience. See you at BEIMUN XXXII!

Honorable directors, fellow student officers, and distinguished delegates and guests!

My name is Kelly Noh, and it is my honor to serve as your co-Secretary General for BEIMUN XXXII. I am a senior at the International School of Beijing, and this is my 6th year participating in MUN.

I joined MUN program in middle school, hoping to improve my public speaking and develop interest in international affairs. Although first struggling when speaking in front of large audiences, I was soon able to improve my debating skills and gain confidence and satisfaction from my achievements.

Whether you joined MUN to meet new friends, improve your public speaking, or develop a better understanding of international relations, we hope that this conference can provide you with memorable experience as well as valuable skills. I look forward to meeting all of you on the 32nd anniversary of BEIMUN!

Welcome to all participants attending BEIMUN XXXII.

My name is Sophie Lam, and it is an honor for me to serve as the head admin for the 32nd iteration of the Beijing Model United Nations conference. I am a junior attending the International School of Beijing, and this marks my 5th year in MUN.

I never considered myself someone who would enjoy expressing my opinions on global issues in front of a large audience, but that perception changed shortly after my very first conference back in 8th grade. The opening speeches by UN representatives and conversations with intelligent-minded individuals were nothing short of inspiring. MUN gave me the confidence to voice my opinions and fight for what I believe in. Simultaneously, it opened me up to international connections and laughter that will stay with me forever.

I hope that everyone will be able to establish lasting friendships, gain valuable insights, and have a memorable time at this conference. I look forward to meeting all of you at BEIMUN XXXII!

Greetings to all participants attending BEIMUN XXXII,

My name is Valeriana Lau, and I am honored to be serving as the head admin for the thirty-second iteration of Beijing Model United Nations conference. I am a junior attending the International School of Beijing; this marks my 4th year in MUN.

I initially joined MUN due to peer pressure in 8th grade, but have quickly grown to love public speaking and resolving challenges. I saw myself grow significantly from an intimidated, clueless delegate into one who is holds passion and unique perspectives on world issues. Needless to say, MUN has set a foundation for me and my perception of the world, and have evolved to become a hobby I am most passionate about, a harbor from all the societal and academic pressures. I sincerely hope that all may learn to embrace the hardships, to see it as an opportunity for improvement and closure to issues in reality, and to eventually find MUN enjoyable.

May all find benefits and passion in Model United Nations, even if that is socializing with others. I look forward to meeting everyone at BEIMUN XXXII!

Greetings to all those attending BEIMUN XXXII,

Hello, my name is Geon Park, and I'm honored to serve as the Deputy Secretary General for the 32nd annual BEIMUN conference in the following year. I am a senior at International School of Beijing, this is my seventh year attending in the Model United Nations program.

Joining MUN at sixth grade was both challenging and exhilarating. I vividly remember my first conference, feeling a mix of nerves and excitement as I stepped into the room to draft a resolution and debate on it. From then, MUN quickly became a passion. I threw myself into every opportunity, learning the intricacies of procedures, researching global issues, and developing my public speaking skills. The support and mentorship I received from experienced members were invaluable, and it wasn't long before I found myself mentoring others. Participating in over fifteen conferences, chaired in five, and held an executive position as the Elementary MUN coordinator. These roles have taught me the importance of guidance and the impact a dedicated mentor can have on a delegate's performance.

Whether it's helping new delegates navigate the complexities of debate and resolution writing or challenging experienced participants to broaden their perspectives, I am passionate about fostering a collaborative and stimulating environment.

I look forward to contributing to the success of BEIMUN XXXII and making it an unforgettable experience for everyone involved.

Luke Brock

Greetings to all future attendees of BEIMUN XXXII,

My name is Luke Brock, and I am honored to serve as a co-secretary general in the 32nd iteration of the Beijing International Model United Nations conference. As a sophomore at the International School of Beijing, this will be my fifth year in the Model United Nations program.

I was initially attracted to MUN in my sixth-grade year, where I had already developed a passion for debate and diversity of perspectives. Undeniably, the connections to the surrounding world, understanding of perspective, and enjoyment of debate I have in MUN remain driving factors in my commitment to the club.  Yet MUN has broadened my horizons in many unexpected ways as well. As a sixth grader, it would be completely unknown to me that I would one day find interest political science, or that I would one day understand how my passions could be connected to something objective or meaningful.

It is my hope that each one you at this upcoming iteration of BEIMUN will be inspired to see these same connections, through your proactive discussions and debates. I look forward to meeting you at BEIMUN, and wish that it would be an enjoyable time grounded in an objective purpose.
